____________________________________________________________________________________________________ It all started in 1966, at South Padre Island, Texas. Ricardo Andrade and his younger brother Raul were instantly drawn to the ocean. On a visit to the beach their attention was not on all of the eye candy but the guys out in the water floating and standing on surfboards. They just had to try it. That is when Richard decided to replace the blood in his veins with salt water. They scrounged up all of their pennies and purchased their very first surfboard for $50.00. From that point on all Ricardo could think about was getting in the water, and now there isn’t a day that goes by that he isn’t in it.
Three years later he experienced his first surfing trip to Mexico, and continued to travel up and down the pacific coast of Mexico every year after. Surfing a variety of different breaks like; Nexpa, Pascueles, Salina Cruz, Playa Azul, Salulita, La Ticla, San Blas (Big Stoners, Little Stoners, Matachin), Puerto Escondido, and every beach stop in-between. During his surfing excursions he has been fortunate enough to surf with people like Corky Carroll, Mike Perpose, Tom Hayden Church, and several excellent South Padre Island locals.
In 1974 Ricardo met his soul mate, mother of his children, and wife of 32 years Billie Caryl Boyett. They have been living a beach lifestyle from day one. It has always been their dream to live in the greater Puerto Vallarta area and in 1999 that dream became a reality. After many trips to various towns in the area they found a piece of property in Mescales, Mexico that they could fix up and call their own. They chose Mescales because it is centrally located between downtown Puerto Vallarta and Punta Mita which are all off of Banderas Bay, the third largest bay in the world. There are also many other charming towns in the nearby area to visit such as; Bucarias, and Salulita just to name a couple.
Now that Ricardo and Billie are living that always chased but seldom captured “Endless Summer” experience, they want to share it with you. That is the reason why they formed Olas Vallarta. They have decided to open the door to home and invite you in as much more then a customer but as a friend. Being that Olas Vallarta is a family run, home based business they are able to provide a very personal touch to your trip.
